The authorities of the regions are responsible for approving the national regulations for seed control and certification. In each region there is a regulating body for variety registration, field inspection, sampling, seed testing, post control and issuance of certificates for the following species :
- Cereal including maize,
- Fodder plants (grasses, legumes and others)
- Oil and Fibre species
- Beet
- Vegetables
- Seed potatoes.
The division "Productkwaliteitsbeheer" is the official regulatory body with the responsibility for official seed certification in the Flemish Region.
The "Direction de la Qualité des Produits" is the official regulatory body with the responsibility for official seed certification in the Walloon Region.
