State Plant Health and Seed Inspection Service is the the authority subject to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and in the present form has been acting since 1st of april 2002. The inspection was created on base of the Law of 1st March 2002, on changes in organisation and acting of governemental administration authorities and their dependent units, and on ten changes of particular laws (O.J. N° 2, pos. 253), as a result of merging of the Plant Protection Inspection Service and the Seed Inspection Service.
The legal basis for the activity of the State Plant Health and Seed Inspection Service in seeds area is
- Law of 26 June 2003 on seed (O.J. of 2003, N° 137, pos. 1299) ;
- Law of 18 December 2003 on plant protection (O.J. of 2004, N° 11, pos. 94) ;
- Law of 20 April 2004 on organic farming (O.J. of 2004, N° 93, pos. 898 ;
- Law of 22 June 2001 on genetic modified organisms (O.J. of 2001, N° 76, pos. 811).
The Inspection tasks are conducted by
