The Direcçao Geral de Protecçao das Culturas (DGPC) is the official regulatory body with the responsibility for official seed certification in Portugal.
The seed control and certification regulations are laid down by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forest. There is a general regulation for seed and propagating material control and certification and several specific regulations :
• Cereals seed
• Fodder seed
• Oil and fibre seed
• Beet seed
• Vegetables Seed
• Seed Potatoes
• Propagating material of vine
• Propagating material of fruit plants
• Propagating material of ornemental plants.
